I love me some Augusten. However, I kinda find it mean how he treats his mother in his writings. Unless he knows something more than he's let on in his memoirs, I hope he realizes that mental illness is not something one asks for in life. Unless his mother has been shown to fake her mental illness, I don't understand how he can write about is as if it was something she chose for herself in life. If someone has been institutionalized, there has to be a medical reason. At times in his writings, I find Augusten feels his mother purposely went "psycho" in order to further her own writing career. I find this highly unlikely. Why would she do this? It certainly didn't further her writing career. I find myself going against a writer that I used to like...almost love.

Yet, when I read his memoir against his father, I felt like maybe I had some
validitly.

Where did this hatred against his dad come into play? Don't we all feel a little bit of that towards our parents?

I think we all did. I think we all wish we had parents who would coddle us, talk to us as if we were adults, look at us as if we were perfect. Doesn't everyone?

So, Augusten, or whoever you call yourself, think about that. I know I wrote this artice in a very novice manner. That's ok. I got my point across.

I'm so glad you like the Southern Vampire Mysteries. I think they're fantastic. I can't wait for Dead Reckoning to come out. I think it'll be published in May.

[...] The Passage by Justin Cronin This is one of the longest books I read in 2010 at 784 pages, so it bodes well that I was thrilled there will be two more to form a trilogy. When a government experiment with a virus goes awry, it becomes clear that the test subjects aren’t just getting stronger and faster, they’re turning into vampires. Read a full review of this smart and scary thriller here. [...]
